Surgery recognised with Carer Friendly Tick Award

We are pleased to share that our surgery has been awarded the Carer Friendly Tick Award by Caring Together.
The award recognises the work we are doing to identify and support patients who have caring responsibilities.
At our surgery, we have been working hard to make sure carers are recognised, recorded and connected with the right support. This includes signposting carers to useful information, local services and resources that can help them look after their own health and wellbeing, as well as the person they care for.
Alison Morgan, Personalised Care Team Lead, St Neots Primary Care Network said: “Many people look after a family member, friend or loved one, but do not always think of themselves as a carer. This may include helping someone with shopping, medicines, appointments, personal care, emotional support or day-to-day tasks.
“Caring for someone can be rewarding, but it can also be tiring and sometimes difficult. We want carers to know that they are not alone and that support is available.
“At the surgery, we have named carers champions who can help patients with caring responsibilities find the right information and support. Our carers champions are Lucinda Best, Care Coordinator, and Leah Potter and Melissa Frohock, Patient Services Advisors. They are supported by our wider Personalised Care Team.
“We are working to make sure carers are identified and supported as early as possible. This includes recording caring responsibilities on patient records, talking to patients about the support they may need, and helping carers access local services and advice.
“If you care for someone, please let us know. This helps us understand your role as a carer and offer information, advice and support that may help you look after your own health and wellbeing too.
“Our staff have completed carers awareness training, and information for carers is available across the surgery. We are also planning activities for patients during Carers Week 2026.
“We are proud to have achieved the Carer Friendly Tick Award, which recognises the work we are doing to support carers in our patient community.”
Carers Week takes place from 8 June to 15 June and is an opportunity to recognise the vital contribution unpaid carers make every day.
During Carers Week, we are encouraging any patients who look after someone to let us know about their caring responsibilities. This helps us make sure your medical record is up to date and means we can offer information, advice and support where needed. You can let us know by calling us on 01480 406 677, popping into any of our surgeries to complete a carer identification form, making an admin request through Anima, or telling us when you register as a new patient.
