Menopause support

We know menopause can have a real impact on your health, wellbeing, and day-to-day life. That’s why we’re continuing to improve the support available to you at Lakeside Healthcare at St Neots.
Dr McCarthy and Dr Murphy have completed advanced menopause training with the British Menopause Society (BMS), a nationally recognised programme that helps doctors provide high-quality, evidence-based menopause care.

This means we can offer you more personalised advice and treatment if you’re experiencing menopause symptoms. These can include hot flushes, sleep problems, low mood, memory changes, and changes to sexual health.

Dr McCarthy and Dr Murphy are also trained to safely prescribe hormone replacement therapy (HRT), with different options available, such as patches, gels, and tablets. They will work with you to find the approach that best suits your needs.

The training also covers more complex areas, including early menopause (premature ovarian insufficiency, or POI), and how menopause can affect your long-term health, including your bones, heart, and memory. It also looks at how to support you if you have other conditions, such as diabetes, migraines, or autoimmune conditions.

Dr McCarthy said: “We understand that menopause affects everyone differently. This training helps us give clear, up-to-date advice and support patients in a way that feels right for them.”

You can contact us in the usual way to get support with menopause symptoms. You can talk through your symptoms, get advice, and explore treatment and lifestyle options. If needed, you can also be guided on treatments, including hormone replacement therapy (HRT), to help find what works best for you.

Dr Murphy added: “You don’t have to just put up with menopause symptoms. We’re here to listen, answer your questions, and help you find the best way forward.”

We want to make sure you feel informed, supported, and confident in managing your health during menopause. If you think you might benefit from support, please get in touch.
