Prostate Cancer Screening
Register for local prostate cancer screening event this September
Men in St Neots and the surrounding area are being encouraged to register for a free prostate cancer screening event taking place on Saturday 5 September 2026.
The event will be held at Eaton Socon Health Centre, 274 Great North Road, St Neots PE19 8BB, and will give local men the opportunity to have a PSA blood test and a digital rectal examination as part of a specialist assessment.
The screening event, which runs from 8am to 5pm, has been organised by Dave Young, a local prostate cancer campaigner who has been working to raise awareness of the importance of early detection. Dave was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2024 after a PSA blood test, despite having no symptoms, and has since used his experience to encourage more men to understand their risk and seek advice.
The event will be led by Miss Jyoti Shah MBE, one of the UK’s leading prostate cancer specialists, together with her experienced clinical team. Miss Shah is a Macmillan consultant urological surgeon at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust and has dedicated her career to improving the early detection of prostate cancer.
Miss Shah is also the founder of the Fighting Prostate Cancer campaign and has led community screening programmes that have tested thousands of men and helped identify more than 100 prostate cancers at an early stage.
Men aged 50 and over, Black men aged 45 and over, and men with a family history of prostate cancer are among those at higher risk and are encouraged to consider registering. Anyone who is unsure about their risk can speak to their GP or use trusted prostate cancer information services before deciding whether to attend.
Once registered, Dave will contact attendees to arrange a five-minute time slot. If all spaces are filled, men will be able to join a waiting list for a future event.
Please note
This event is being run independently from our practice, so if you have any questions please direct them to Dave Young, whose contact details are on the link above.
