Prostate Cancer Awareness Sessions

Following the success of our prostate cancer awareness event last year, we are happy to confirm that we are hosting more Prostate Cancer Awareness Group Consultation Sessions on Saturday 7 March 2026, from 9am to 12pm, at Cedar House Practice.

In November 2025, more than 120 patients attended our group consultation sessions, showing just how much our local community values early action, open conversations and information about men’s health. Feedback from patients was very positive, with many asking us to run similar sessions again.

As a result of this response, and continued interest from both patients and the local community, we are delighted to be offering another opportunity for people at higher risk of prostate cancer to learn more and, if appropriate, access PSA testing.

These group consultation sessions provide a supportive space to take part in a group discussion led by a GP about prostate cancer, learn about prostate cancer risk factors, understand the benefits and limitations of PSA testing, ask questions and make informed decisions about your health. If you would like a PSA blood test, you may be able to have one on the day or arrange an appointment for a later date.

Dr Thaven Chetty, GP Partner at Lakeside Healthcare at St Neots said: “The response to our last prostate cancer awareness event was incredible. We were genuinely overwhelmed by how many people wanted to attend and how engaged they were in the discussions. Prostate cancer can develop without symptoms, so understanding your risk and having the confidence to talk about testing is important. We’re pleased to be able to offer these sessions again in response to what our patients and local community has asked for.”

You are considered at higher risk of developing prostate cancer if you:

  • Are over 50 years old
  • Are from a Black ethnic background
  • Have a family history of prostate cancer

The sessions are open to both registered patients and the local community who are not currently registered with Lakeside Healthcare at St Neots.

If you are not registered, you will need to register with the practice before attending.

We are also pleased to welcome back Dave Young; a local campaigner whose personal experience of prostate cancer had a powerful impact at our previous event.

Dave said: “At the last session, I spoke to so many people who told me they’d been putting off getting checked or didn’t feel confident talking about prostate health. Seeing so many people turn up, ask questions and take action was incredibly encouraging. I’m really pleased these sessions are happening again, because they genuinely help break down barriers and save lives.”

Places are limited, so early booking is recommended.

If you are a registered patient, please call 01480 406 677 or visit one of our practices to book your place.

If you are not currently registered and would like to attend, please register with the practice first by visiting our new patient registration page and following the instructions. You can also call 01480 406 677 or visit one of our practices for support with registration.

We look forward to welcoming patients and members of the local community to Cedar House Practice in March and continuing these important conversations about prostate health.
